Who Works Here?
Matt Nelsen is an experieced tennis player and coach who is wonderful with little children. Starting the game of tennis at an age of 7, he has come a long way through taking tennis lessons and participating in youth leagues over the years. His dedication to the sport led him to become a decorated member of the Arapahoe High School tennis team. Highlights throughout Matt’s high school career (1998-2002) are placing 2nd at the Regional Tournament and then 5th at the State Championship in 1999. In addition to his tournament accomplishments, the peak of his high school career was playing #2 Singles in 2002.

Following high school, Matt created a neighborhood tennis camp for kids. Running this camp enhanced his tennis and teaching skills; but, more importantly, the camp created a fun and successful learning experience for the neighborhood children. This summer camp continued for the next 3 summers.

During college, Matt’s tennis career continued at an intramural and recreational level. After college graduation, he became the head JV Tennis Coach at Arapahoe High School in 2006. He has been the head JV coach and Assistant Varsity coach for the past 2 years, and hopes to continue that in the future.

He also became a certified USPTA tennis pro in November of 2007.

In addition to his extensive tennis career, he also has direct business experience. While studying Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of San Diego, he founded and ran a small student storage business geared specifically for college students. After beginning in 2005, the business doubled in size every year until Matt sold his share to his business partner three years later in 2007. While starting and running this business he acquired valuable entrepreneurial skills, which will allow for the smooth and professional operation of Drop Shots Tennis.

KT Nelsen is an avid tennis player, bred from a family of tennis enthusiasts. She is great with little children and always has a smile on her face. She has been playing recreational tennis on and off since she was 6 years old.

Tana Thorne has grown up playing tennis in Montana, and has continued through her move to Colorado. She is great with little kids, and loves the sport of tennis.

Matt Murphy played high school tennis in Colorado Springs, and has also been an avid golfer. His love for both tennis and golf, along with his fantastic ability to make kids laugh, has made him a favorite coach amongst the kids.

Nathan Fanning also played high school tennis, and has coached the sport at Arapahoe High School and Chaparral High School. He has also spent time teaching Math at AHS, and is great with not only high school kids, but with the little kids as well. Nathan is also an avid golfer and is one of our golf instructors as well as tennis instructors.
